The Robin and The Wren Review

In the end, there were the Robin and the Wren. The Robin saw ruin. The Wren saw beauty. Yet, as they sat on their decaying branch, the little Wren could not deny that everything was dying. Nor could she deny that food was growing more scarce. Each day, one searched for food while the other awaited its friend's return. Yet little nourishment and no earthworms remained.

Eventually, the Robin and the Wren left their familiar hunting grounds behind. They hunted together, rarely spotting anything to eat. The larger Robin wearied of the struggle. Yet even when the days seemed darkest, and all hope was gone, the little Wren refused to give into despair.

In his short story, The Robin and The Wren, author George L. Thomas peers through the fragile beauty of today to envision a devastating future. He reminds us of the sustaining power of friendship and urges us to never give up on hope.
