Yesterday, I attended a panel on Dustin Nguyen. He gave up a lucrative career in engineering because he loved comics. He got his start at Stan Lee Media, where an older artist mentored him (in return for teaching his idol how to use Photoshop and other computer programs). After working for years at Wildstorm, he pursued his love of drawing Batman at DC Comics. He's illustrated creator-owned projects, such as the Descender series with writer Jeff Lemire at Image Comics, but he keeps returning to Batman because he loves drawing the character so much.
