Reread: Conan The Barbarian #1

Published: August 2, 2023

Nomads founded Hauler’s Roam. In a tavern, Conan beats up the captain of The Bleeders before departing the band of mercenaries. Eight years have passed since the Siege Of Venarium. The 26-year-old Cimmerian has explored the Hyborian world and longs for home. When darkness blots out the sun, a woman dressed as a Pict rides into the waypoint in the forest that straddles the border between Aquilonia and Cimmeria.

Brissa of the Gurian tribe warns the locals to flee. She has tracked the Army Of The Lost for weeks since they killed her family and destroyed her village. But what little time they have to flee, the locals and travelers lose to doubt and quibbling. Then, the undead storm into this collection of homes and businesses that serve hunters, travelers, and merchants, and brave words give way to senseless slaughter. Thus, Jim Zub begins Scourge Of The Dead, part one of his story Bound In Black Stone.
