Joshua Williamson addressed DC Comics' current All In approach to storytelling at WonderCon 2026. Not every series they produce will be new. Still, they're producing a mixture of stories designed to be accessible to new and continuing readers. In his words, the goal is to "show how awesome comics are."
If you're enjoying the 2026 range of titles, Joshua Williamson promised that 2027 will be the craziest thing you’ve ever seen. Darkseid may have been the big bad villain in DC K.O. But that event was just a warmup. Darkseid was only testing the heroes. In 2027, the battle between Darkseid and the supers will be the real thing.
Joshua Williamson also said to watch for the Superman 2026 Annual: Year One Thousand. Darkseid conquered space and time in DC K.O. So, Superman will travel into the future, where he attempts to repair everything that's broken. And if you’re a Legion of Super-Heroes fan, you’re in luck. Joshua is a big fan of the team and has a new take on it that he believes long-time fans and new readers will love.
Along with Scott Snyder, Joshua Williamson pitched the All In approach to DC Comics. While scripting their individual series and working together on events like DC K.O., Scott and Joshua also consult with DC Comics on the range of titles they produce. Along with the Absolute Universe, another part of the All In approach is the Next Level series.
The Next Level titles are designed to be creator-forward, user-friendly, and represent big swings. In other words, the DC and the creators are trying to deliver the epic take on these characters that fans have been waiting for. DC Comics has big plans for Next Level, with lots of upcoming series.
