In the Storyteller's Tale of the Godsword, the Zamorakian warlord K’ril Tsutsaroth tasked necromancer Sherok with guarding the hilt. But when his army reached the Temple of the Lost Ancients, the demon slew the necromancer and ordered his servants to kill Maro. Sherok’s fast-talking familiar found refuge in Lea’Anna’s arms. But then K’ril Tsutsaroth broke into the temple, and the Armadylean scout fled deeper into the warrens beneath the temple. Can an avian scout and a floating skull protect the blade of the Godsword? Let's strap on our armor, leap into RuneScape: Untold Tales of the God Wars #3, and find out!
Story
Maro assured Lea’Anna that the sorcerers guarding the Temple entrance were stooges. But the cloaked men hurl spells of devastating power. Captain Viss arrives in time to save the scout and skull. Then he sees Lea’Anna holding the Godsword blade. The Saradominists may be the Armadyleans’ allies. But on the battlefield, trust is a luxury Captain Viss cannot afford.
RuneScape: Untold Tales of the God Wars #3 follows Captain Viss’ journey to the forge. The Saradominist brings along Maro in case he needs the familiar to unite the blade with the hilt. At first, Maro rages at his captor, remembering Lea’Anna’s kindness. Then, he perceives similarities between the Armadylean scout and the Saradominist who killed her. Thereafter, the familiar observes the captain. Maro doesn’t lie to Viss as he did to Lea’Anna and Sherok. Nor does he bate the man as he did K’ril Tsutsaroth and his demon army. Instead, Maro studies how he works alongside the soldiers under his care.
Although only seen at the beginning, the Storyteller's flowing narrative guides readers through this story about the costs of war. Ryan O'Sullivan employs an omnipresent point of view, providing access to a council among Zilyana, Kree’Arra, and Graador. After all the killing, the Saradominist, Armadylean, and Bandosian generals find it as difficult to trust each other as Captain Viss did Lea’Anna. But while the Storyteller employs a lighthearted voice, he explores the toll war takes on our souls.

Beneath the purple night sky, a tavern glows with orange and red. When the Storyteller resumes his tale, Captain Viss and his army wade through a world of gray. Orange torch fires light the way as the legion marches toward the forge in RuneScape: Untold Tales of the God Wars #3. The Saradominist symbol of a yellow star, the yellow plume topping Captain Viss’ helmet, and his yellow gloves defy the gloom hanging over this seemingly hopeless war. But the captain’s memories reveal happier times thanks to Laurel Dundee's coloring. Viss stood amid green fields beneath a blue sky streaked with white before yellow and orange devoured his world.
Pink and black surround Maro as he hovers and trails after him as he travels. The skull's eyebrows become more noticeable in RuneScape: Untold Tales of the God Wars #3. They suggest that Maro viewed life with Sharok as a game until he met Lea’Anna. Now, he rages over what he has lost. Sid Kotian shows Captain Viss standing tall. He strides with purpose and assurance. The Saradominist leader clasps his soldiers’ arms and makes them smile. But the captain displays little joy as he carries out his duties.
Nathan Kempf conjures large uppercase letters into white dialogue balloons and beige narrative boxes. The Storyteller’s words are bold and darken further for intonation. K’Ril utters red ones into black balloons. Intriguingly, narrative boxes turn pink when Maro remembers the people who influenced him in this sound effects-free tale. Final Thoughts
Power is intoxicating, and the power to slay a god is the most potent of them all. The Armadyleans may have had good intentions when they forged a blade to slay Zamorak, the god of chaos. But when beholding one sword to rule them all, allies and enemies compete for the honor of wielding it in RuneScape: Untold Tales of the God Wars #3.
