Meet Ghezal Omar at SDCC

As a special bonus, here's a press release from San Diego Comic-Con

PIMP KILLERS, BOUNTY HUNTERS AND POKER PLAYERS, OH MY!

GHEZAL OMAR BRINGS UNSTOPPABLE FEMALE HEROES TO SAN DIEGO COMIC CON

We’re not in Kansas anymore. And Oz is a fantasy compared to the gritty, adrenaline-fueled worlds that creator and writer, Ghezal Omar, brings to life. Omar returns to San Diego Comic Con, bringing sequels to her fresh creations: Pimp Killer 2: Made in America and .357 Magnum Opus 2: The Golden Suicides.

Omar, the first Afghan-American graphic novelist, continues to push the boundaries of female representation in comics, thus redefining the female-driven action thriller genre. Her debut, .357 Magnum Opus, captivated audiences with its portrayal of a relentless bounty hunter gang.

This year, she’s revealed that each sequel follows a heart-wrenching tale of the bounty hunters, further delving into their complex, adrenaline-fueled journeys. Teaming up with writer, Kayden Phoenix, “.357 Magnum Opus 2: The Golden Suicides” promises to melt the hearts of fans with action and suspense, just like water on the Wicked Witch.

In "Pimp Killer 2: Made in America," Omar delves into the dark sides of police corruption and human trafficking, painting a gritty and unflinching portrait of these systemic issues.

“She’s changing what it means to be a main character. She has always been fascinated by strong female leads, and now hopes to introduce others to their intricacies.” - Spectrum News 1

“I wanted to create a woman who doesn't care if she's going to fight she's going to get her hands dirty. She's going to do all the things that these male powerful male superheroes do." - ABC 10News

Omar’s works are not just entertainment; they are a powerful statement on female empowerment and resilience. By creating compelling female protagonists who defy stereotypes, Omar’s graphic novels inspire readers to challenge societal norms and embrace their own strength. Her contributions are crucial in an industry that still grapples with gender representation issues, making her a much-needed voice in the comic world.
