Conan and Brissa explore a dark citadel. The outer hallways are rough-hewn, yet the inner chambers evoke rooms in a palace. They follow dark-robed priests and discover Cimmerians held in cells. The priests wear strange faces, and the Army Of The Lost guards the halls. Conan remembers several of the men from the battle at Venarium. Yet most are starved and sickly.
Conan wants to explore the citadel further. He asks Brissa to lead the prisoners to safety. When Conan offers her the Pict sword, Brissa declines. She wants him more than this token of her heritage. The Cimmerians Hydallan, Mago, and Tormey accompany Conan as he explores the dark caves and corridors. In Conan The Barbarian #3, we learn who commands the Army Of the Lost, while the art invites comparisons with director John Milius’ immortal movie.
