TRUE NOIR: The Assassination of Anton Cermak
Los Angeles, CA – July 10, 2024 – Industry veteran Robert Meyer Burnett (FREE ENTERPRISE, WHITE DEVILS, THE HILLS RUN RED) and best-selling detective/crime writer, Max Allan Collins (ROAD TO PERDITION) are set explain how they’re disrupting the status quo with ICU’s debut project, TRUE NOIR: The Assassination of Anton Cermak.
They will be joined by several cast members including Anthony LaPaglia, Don McManus, Kris Carr, and Louis Lombardi on stage in room 6A on Thursday, July 25th at 5:30pm at San Diego Comic-Con. The panel promises to give fans a closer look at the production of their 10-episode, 6-1/2 hour, serialized audio drama.
TRUE NOIR: The Assassination of Anton Cermak, based on Collins’s best-selling novel True Detective. Set primarily in 1932 Chicago, the series explores the murder of the city’s mayor during a political rally for a newly-elected Franklin Delano Roosevelt in Miami, Florida.
Burnett, who is directing and producing the series, describes it as “a cinematic audio drama,” featuring a stellar cast including Jeffrey Combs (The Frighteners), PJ Byrne (The Wolf of Wall Street), Jesse Spencer (House), Anthony LaPaglia (Without a Trace), and Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica), among others. The production promises an immersive experience with top-tier sound design and an original score by Alexander Bornstein (Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy).
ABOUT TRUE NOIR:
TRUE NOIR is an original IP franchise developed by Imagination Connoisseurs Unlimited, LLC, and created by author Max Allan Collins, and producers Robert Meyer Burnett, and Mike Bawden. TRUE NOIR stories are based on extensively researched, historical events, and involve true-life characters of the period - blended with a carefully crafted suspense/crime plot featuring Nathan Heller, “detective to the stars.”
True to the “noir” name, the stories are often dark and biting, frequently breaking normal conventions for the detective genre and resulting in complex characters with dark pasts and even darker futures. The first TRUE NOIR stories developed by ICU will be known as “The Nathan Heller Casebooks” and are adapted from Collins’s Nathan Heller series of 19 (soon to be 20) novels featuring the cop-turned-private eye.
