There was a lot going on at Wondercon 2025. Sadly, most of the big events seemed to occur on Saturday. One panel I wish I could have attended was the Mechanical Cake panel. This new publisher was founded by Ridley Scott, the director of such iconic films as Alien, Blade Runner, and The Martian. I also enjoy his non Sci-Fi films such as Gladiator, Kingdom Of Heaven, and Black Hawk Down. (I even liked his much maligned film The Counselor).
I think my favorite movie of his is Prometheus. It's filled with the mysteries of life, the complexities of humanity and family, and Ridley Scott's signature worldbuilding.
While program scheduling precluded me from attending the Mechanical Cake panel, I have no excuse for not visiting their booth. I walked through the exhibit hall several times (except on Saturday). I even visited SG Blaise's booth (in the background) on Sunday. So how I missed their booth remains as much a mystery as what happens to David and the Covenant's crew when they reach Origae-6.
I'm still hoping to see that movie someday, Ridley!
If you're also a fan of Ridley Scott's films, check out their forthcoming four-volume graphic novel series. Many thanks to David Roberson for sending me these photos to share with you!
