The new Dune movies have been in development for a long time. When Brian Herbert was touring bookshops with co-writer Kevin J Anderson for the final chronological installments--Hunters Of Dune and Sandworms Of Dune--he mentioned that he was in contract negotiations with the studios. Everyone wanted to do justice to Frank Herbert's original vision. Still, good things sometimes take a long time.

Legendary Comics and Rocketship Entertainment announced the launch of a pre-sales campaign for the new behind-the-scenes book Dune: The Storyboards – Imagining the Dune Movies, which features images from Dune: Part One, Dune: Part Two, and the upcoming third film in the franchise. From the mind of visionary director Denis Villeneuve — who brought Frank Herbert’s celebrated novel Dune to life with Legendary and Warner Bros. Pictures — this remarkable book showcases the creative process behind the making of the Dune films. The book will be released at retail in Q1 2027, and fans of Legendary’s Dune films can now pre-order a unique collectible edition on Kickstarter now.
Featuring hundreds of illustrations by Sam Hudecki, Dune: The Storyboards – Imagining the Dune Movies shows how the look and feel of Denis Villeneuve’s trilogy came together before filming began. The storyboards outline everything from small character moments to the story’s major action sequences. Film scholar and acclaimed author Simon Ward — known for his The Art and Making of Alien: Covenant and The Art of Kong: Skull Island — serves as the writer of the book.
