When Captain Viss killed Lea'anna to get the Godsword, he made an enemy in Maro. After serving as Sharok's familiar, Lea'anna showed Maro kindness and won his love. Captain Viss slowly gained the enchanted skull's sympathy, and then its respect, by revealing his history and how he cared for the soldiers in his command. Also, he was big enough to admit that he had erred in killing Maro's friend.
