Today, Edgar Rice Burroughs Inc had a bundle of news to release to fans, and did they deliver! One of the people ERB Inc brought to their panel at San Diego Comic-Con today was Andrew Sumner, the Chief Operating Officer of Titan Comics. Andrew grew up reading Edgar Rice's John Carter of Mars and Tarzan novels, and fell in love with Edgar Rice Burroughs' interconnected universe. Andrew has wanted to produce new stories about his favorite characters, and now, he can.
Titan will be producing an extensive lineup of comics and novels, both old and new. Similar to their programs with Alcon (Blade Runner) and Heroic Signatures (Conan & the Robert E Howard-verse), they'll be producing collections of old comics and publishing new ones. They'll also be reproducing old prose stories in collected editions.
Here's an outline of their plans:
First up is a Dejah Thoris comic series. Sadly, we'll have to wait until next year to see it. Still, this deal has been in the works for a long time, and Titan intends to pay homage to ERB's legacy by doing this series right. So, give your local comic shop the heads up, and keep alert for more news from Titan about the upcoming series.
I'll report more on ERB, Inc's bundle of announcements as time permits.
Thanks to Edgar Rice Burroughs Inc, Titan Comics, and San Diego Comic-Con for sharing this news with us.
