I haven't listened to many audiobooks in my life. But two writer-friends requested reviews of their audiobooks this year, so I gave it a try. Audiobooks provide readers with an entirely different experience, and the narrator plays a crucial role in the book's success. If you're attending San Diego Comic-Con, this panel can help you learn more about the audiobook recording process!
Here's all the info:
Step Into the Fantasy Audiobook Booth—Great
audiobooks can transport listeners right into a fantastical sonic
tapestry of an author's story. How do authors choose the right voice to
narrate their words? What are some of the ways authors develop the sound
design and musical elements of an audiobook program? Does narrating
their own work change the way they experience their story? Get an inside
look with authors Charlie Jane Anders (Lessons in Magic and Disaster), Amal El-Mohtar (The River Has Roots) and Cassandra Khaw (The Library at Hellebore), on the making of their audiobooks. This panel will be moderated by audiobook narrator Natalie Naudus.
Date/Time: Saturday, 7/26/25, 2:30PM - 3:30PM | Room: 10
